Boston Tragedy

The race organizers of Woody’s RV World Marathon wish to express our deepest condolences to the families and victims of the senseless bombings at the Boston Marathon yesterday.  It is at times like these that we in the running community recognize that more important than the races we run or the goals we strive to achieve is the value of human life.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their families and all the runners at the Boston Marathon during in this time of tragedy.
If there is one thing that running marathons teaches us it is to foster a spirit of determination.  Training for and finishing a race like the Boston Marathon or Woody’s RV Marathon takes dedication and determination.  To all who were hurt or touched by this act of cowardly violence, we pledge not to let this act of violence dampen the spirit of our running community or snuff our determination.  This is how we will honour the lives lost in Boston yesterday—by moving forward while solemnly remembering them and what they ran for.

Ronald McDonald House of Central Alberta is our chosen charity for 2013. With your support in 2012 we raised $12,000 for the Ronald McDonald House of Central Alberta. The house opened to families with sick children on February 27th, 2012. Building the home was a large commitment and the donations of everyone involved were sincerely appreciated. Going forward the home requires substantial commitment from the community and so we have once again supported this cause.
